Transportation
If you arrive by plane, Tromsø is the nearest airport. We pick up our guests by minibus, after about 2+ hours we will arrive at the helicopter base at Kilpisjärvi. The base will be the starting point for your trip out into the arctic wilderness. Kilpisjärvi is a small border trading center with many shops where you will be able to shop for food, drinks and other things.
About helicopter
Our trips start at our helicopter base at Lake Kilpisjärvi just above the border in our beautiful neighboring country Finland. Kilpisjärvi lies up on the plateau about 400 meters above sea level. The fishing spots we use there are no others flying to. The helicopter is a Eurocopter AS 350B2 “Ecureuil” and can take a total of 5 passengers with a maximum of 35 kilograms of luggage per person.
Tent camp
After a short flight we land at our selected destinations where we establish our base camp. The camp is chosen from close proximity to good fishing opportunities. The camp consists of lavvo which is a traditional Sami tent for several people and possibility for furnace firing. The lavvo creates a wonderful atmosphere and a nice gathering point for us. In addition, all participants will have their own 2-person tent for privacy, so everyone can sleep alone.
Who is this trip for?
Since you are flown into the destinations, our tours are not physically demanding. If you want to hike to nearby fishing lakes then some physics is required, but you can fish without walking much. Thus our trips fit for most people. Our tours are especially suitable for those who would rather spend time fishing instead of walking for several days to reach such areas. Age or impaired health is basically no obstacle to joining us on a trip. But please talk to us about this in advance. We can by far adjust our stay to your needs. Just get in touch, and we might find a perfect solution for you!
We welcome you as our guest !!
